The hidden half of domestic violence

How to have eternal life

Let the lower lights be burning! LOVE and ACCEPTANCE

On one dark stormy night in the late 1800's, a ship was making its
way to the Cleveland harbor. The lighthouse was shining brightly as
it should, but the lights that were supposed to mark the channel
leading to the harbor were dark. With a strong hand and a brave
heart, the old turned the wheel. But in the darkness he missed the
channel, and with a crash upon the rocks the ship was shattered and
lives were lost in a watery grave

D. L. Moody has made the statement: "The Master will take care of
the great light-house: let us keep the lower lights burning!"

If you have seen the Shattered Men business cards, you will have
noticed we have a lighthouse featured on them. It is featured on our
web site for Jesus said "I AM THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD" John 8:12

I am in many secular groups. We often tell those in these groups
about Shattered Men. Many of those in these groups are ship wrecked
and they are often struggling to stay afloat in shark infested
waters Those we are looking for are also in their darkest hour. They
see no hope. Often, they feel so alone in the deepest stormiest
sea. It is our intention to throw out a life line to these precious
men and women.

I have seen many movies about rescue at sea. One thing I have always
noticed, the rescue boats always have taken people out of the sea
into their boats without regard to who they were, or what they were
wearing. They never asked them how much money they had in the bank
or what church they went to. They only knew one thing..that person
would perish if left where they were. When brought back to the ship,
the captain did not care if they were filthy and that they were
dripping water all over his deck. He only cared about the person as
he ordered his crew to take care of them, first giving them blankets
to warm up and then drink and food. After these needs were met, he
then provided clean cloths. He never insisted that they clean up
before the life boat crews took them on board the boats nor that they
do so before boarding the ship.

Folks we do not ask these questions either, for we also know that
these men and women will perish if we leave them as they are. Just
as that captain will not force any of those he rescued to come on
board, they do so because they know it is safety, they know they will
die if they do not do so, we have to show people that they too need
to be rescued. We do that with..LOVE.

My friend, if a life boat crew were to ask someone that needed to be
rescued these questions before saving them, they would be brought up
on charges before an international maritime court. I contend that we
as Christians will be brought up on charges before the judgment seat
of Christ if we did something like this by expecting those that need
to see the lower lights are burning to clean up their act before
taking them on board our life boat.

My friend, it is my prayer that THE LIGHTHOUSE would send more power
to us (Shattered Men) so that we can let the lower lights shine
brighter, that HE would give us a larger life boat so we can take
many more on board. The question then is will YOU:

Let the lower lights be burning!

Brightly beams our Father's mercy,
From His lighthouse evermore,
But to us He gives the keeping
Of the lights along the shore.

Refrain 1:
Let the lower lights be burning!
Send a gleam across the wave!
For to us He gives the keeping
Of the lights along the shore.
Dark the night of sin has settled,
Loud the angry billows roar;
Eager eyes are watching, longing,
For the lights along the shore.

Refrain 2:
Let the lower lights be burning!
Send a gleam across the wave!
Eager eyes are watching, longing,
For the lights along the shore.
Trim your feeble lamp, my brother;
Some poor sailor, tempest-tossed,
Trying now to make the harbor,
In the darkness may be lost.

Refrain 3:
Let the lower lights be burning!
Send a gleam across the wave!
Trying now to make the harbor,
In the darkness may be lost
