The hidden half of domestic violence

How to have eternal life

TRAPS!

As I sit here at this keyboard again tonight, with a CD of praise
music playing I am thinking about the many posts over the last
couple of weeks. I have seen messages posted out of desperation and
pain. Last week, several of us were kidding back and forth over a
football game in which I said one team was setting traps for the
other. Some were offended by the trivial nature of this when they
and others were hurting so much over real issues and I am truly
sorry for this. I do personally ask those who were hurt to forgive
me for adding to that pain. (I do want to point out that both head
couches are firm Christians with true Christian values and even the
announcers stated that the Colts couch has never use profanity with
his team although one said that the couch said his was the
best "d... team in the league. Someone reminded him of what he said
and the couch asked forgiveness for saying that one word and
said.."I will never say it again" Oh that we would all set an
example such as this but on to the real reason for this...heart to
heart message.

I have seen several posts here that have mentioned that they feel
trapped. We know that society in general discounts the fact that
there are abused men. Many do so out of ignorance and that is why
we are trying to educate these people regarding the real facts of
abuse. As a result, often it is hard for abused men to find a good
counselor as many tend to blame men for their abuse or to give
unrealistic advise such as "be the man of your home and ....." I
have heard this often from pastors especially in Father's Day
messages. One problem with this, in our society, it can and often
is called...abuse. It does not matter how it is done.

Many have traps set for them in such a way that no matter what they
do, they can be accused of being abusive. Others face problems in
their jobs with some that do not like what they are doing and thus
they make false accusations regarding them.

There are many ways traps and snares can be set for us. Let us look
at just a few:

Psalms 9:

15 The heathen are sunk down in the pit that they made: in the net
which they hid is their own foot taken.
16 The LORD is known by the judgment which he executeth: the wicked
is snared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion. Selah.

In Psalms 38 and 39 David talks about many who sought to destroy him
with statements such as: "They also that seek after my life lay
snares for me: and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things,
and imagine deceits all the day long" His answer can be found in

Psalms 40: "He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of
the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my
goings. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our
God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD."

Psalm 119:110
The wicked have laid a snare for me: yet I erred not from thy
precepts.

Psalm 124:7
Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the
snare is broken, and we are escaped.

Psalm 140:5
The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net
by the wayside; they have set gins for me. Selah.

Still, our real enemy is not our jobs, our family, authorities or
any other human being. Our real enemy is expressed in Ephesians 6:12

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against
principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness
of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Many of the traps satan sets are to cause doubts...doubts that GOD
is indeed faithful, that HE is our DAD! We have only to look at Job
to see what GOD "allowed" satan to do to cause doubts. With us, it
can be losing or looking for a job. Our car can break down causing
us to wonder what we are going to do. Others face false
accusations. In short, the trap set for us will be whatever we are
most likely to fall for. Our accuser knows our weakness and will
use it against us.

One thing we do know, GOD will never forsake HIS kids. He will never
let us down but we need to be careful to allow GOD to work in HIS
way, not in ours. Often we do think GOD let us down because HE did
not answer our prayer our way. Often HIS way is so much better but
we miss out. Let me give an example. There is a story about a
teenager that was graduating and he expected a car for a gift. His
father gave him a beautiful leather Bible and the teenager got mad
an threw this Bible saying he was expecting a car. Many years
passed and his father died after not having contact with him for
many years. His mother then was able to talk to him and although he
was middle aged by now, she still had that Bible he threw that day.
Inside, was a check for the full price of the car he wanted dated on
the day of his graduation. It was signed by his father.

My precious friend...before you say how stupid of both of them....I
ask...what are WE doing with our heavenly Father? What blessings
are WE....you and I missing out on because we want what WE want
instead of what HE wants for us?

Let me show you what GOD wants for US today!

John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill,
and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they
might have it more abundantly.

Look at that last part. Does it sound like our LORD wants us to
just get by? Does it go along with His promise when HE called us?

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will
give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek
and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

How then do we find this more abundent life? How do we find rest?
For one, we have to let the burdens go. We have to lay them at the
foot of the Cross and Let it go.

Snares and traps. How do we avoid them? Lets look at two more
verses in Proverbs:

Proverbs 12:13
The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: but the just
shall come out of trouble.

Proverbs 29:6
In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare: but the
righteous doth sing and rejoice.

Ahhh the key to avoiding the traps...being just...and being
righteous. How do we do that? By following the first step if you
have not already done it. If you do not know the LORD as your
savior, this is the first step as the promises we have shown here
that those that set traps for others will fall into them themselves
apply only to those that are setting traps for GOD's kid. Become
one of HIS kids today by:

IF you are HIS kid...then the thing to do...is to PRAISE the LORD
for all things. Jonah spent 3 days and nights in the belly of a
great fish. Paul and Silas were in prison. I am sure there was
much prayer going up...but the results came when they started
PRAISING THE LORD. My friend...praise is what will make demons
run. They can not stand hearing sincere praise to the King of
Kings. Then pray for those that are setting the traps for you that
they may find the grace that God wants to give to them. After all,
the best way to get rid of an enemy is to make them your friend.

I leave with this song....Wonderful Peace!

Far away in the depths of my spirit tonight
Rolls a melody sweeter than psalm;
In celestial strains it unceasingly falls
O'er my soul like an infinite calm.

Refrain

Peace, peace, wonderful peace,
Coming down from the Father above!
Sweep over my spirit forever, I pray
In fathomless billows of love!

What a treasure I have in this wonderful peace,
Buried deep in the heart of my soul,
So secure that no power can mine it away,
While the years of eternity roll!

Refrain

I am resting tonight in this wonderful peace,
Resting sweetly in Jesus' control;
For I'm kept from all danger by night and by day,
And His glory is flooding my soul!

Refrain

And I think when I rise to that city of peace,
Where the Anchor of peace I shall see,
That one strain of the song which the ransomed will sing
In that heavenly kingdom will be:

Refrain

Ah, soul! are you here without comfort and rest,
Marching down the rough pathway of time?
Make Jesus your Friend ere the shadows grow dark;
O accept of this peace so sublime!
