How to have eternal life

COMPASSION!

I have been in Edgewater Woods for over three weeks. It is the first "nursing
home" I have been in and although I know other nursing homes may not be like
Edgewater, I do know my ideal of nursing homes has changed. I did not see
anyone sitting in a corner being forgotten. I did not smell a place that smelt
like an out house more than anything else. Although my first impression was
far from pleasant as I did get here on New Years day when the next day was a
holiday also and as a result I could not get a walker until the physical therapy
people came in to evaluate me. I did not help to say I was walking with one in
the hospital and I wanted to keep it up. It also did not help that I was
able to get up to use the restroom without any help in the hospital, I had to
have help to do so here and the only help around were females. BUT, in spite
of all these things, I did see something that I did not think I would see in a
nursing home, I saw COMPASSION!

Compassion is a virtue one in which the emotional capacities of empathy and
sympathy (for the suffering of others) are regarded as a part of love itself,
and a cornerstone of greater social interconnection and humanism —
foundational to the highest principles in philosophy, society, and personhood.
There is an aspect of compassion which regards a quantitative dimension, such
that individual's compassion is often given a property of "depth," "vigor," or
"passion." More vigorous than empathy, the feeling commonly gives rise to an
active desire to alleviate another's suffering. It is often, though not
inevitably, the key component in what manifests in the social context as
altruism. In ethical terms, the various expressions down the ages of the
so-called Golden Rule embody by implication the principle of compassion: Do to
others what you would have them do to you.[1]
The English noun compassion, meaning to suffer together with.

I could tell that almost everyone that works here has compassion for those they
are caring for. Needless to say, I saw this in some more than I did in others.
For one, the activities director always went around to those who we normally
picture as nursing home patients, those who seem to just be there and she
included them in various things. She and a few others fed them treats they had
for activities (if their diet allowed it)  I saw this compassion in the
night nurse who was my nurse that night I was hurting so bad that I really
wondered if I wanted to go through with the next one as she did her best to help
ease the pain I had that night, I do know they do not do it for the high pay
they get here,,,,,it is not that high. I did find out how much one of the nurses
who has been here a few years make and I assure you the starting pay in most
hospitals would be much higher then what she is making here. The only reason I
can think of that some
stay here is that they have compassion for the residents here. I have told
three of the nurses that If I were the director of nursing at a hospital and
they came to apply, I would hire them in a heart beat.

On the other side, I have seen far too many people working in hospitals that
did not have the foggiest clue has to what compassion is. I am sure that each
of you who are reading this now know someone that has shown compassion and most
of you know far more who do not have one lick of compassion.
Oh, one does not have to be physically ill or injured to need compassion.
Emotional turmoil and those who have felt rejection all of their life also need
it. Perhaps they need it even more than those who hurt physically because the
physical wounds such as my knees will repair themselves in time while those who
have emotional pain and those who felt rejection most of their life will often
NOT find relieve until they find someone who can show them compassion. Along
with that, many of you have been abused and rejected throughout your life.
Others are still being abused by a very biased court system. We know about
that by experience when we can see a man who has followed every thing the
court has told him to do while the mother of his child has violated one court
order after another and has actually abused the child but those whose duty it is
to protect children said she only did it once so they would not do anything.

This is not anything new. Most of us have seen very evil people seem to
prosper while very good people have to struggle alone. Please notice I said
SEEM to prosper

For those reading this that are hurting so much that you cannot imagine it being
able to be any worse, I have good news for you. There is one who has shown
compassion for YOU.  Let me give you a few lines from a song I am listening
to right now
I believe that this life with its great mysteries
Surely someday will come to an end
But faith will conquer the darkness and death
And will lead at last to my friend
I believe that the Christ
Who was slain on the cross
Has the power to change lives today
For He changed me completely
A new life is mine
And that is why by the cross
I will stay From:

I BELIEVE IN A HILL CALLED MOUNT CALVARY

I'll still cling to that old rugged cross!

There are things as we travel this earth drifting sand,
That transcend all the reason of man;
But the things that matter the most in this world,
They can't ever be held in our hands.

I believe in a hill called Mount Calvary,
I'll believe whatever the cost;
And when time has surrendered,
And earth is no more;
I'll still cling to that old rugged cross.

I believe that the Christ who was slain on the cross,
Has the power to change lives today;
For He changed me completely,
A new life is mine;
That is why by the cross I will stay.

I believe in a hill called Mount Calvary,
I'll believe whatever the cost;
And when time has surrendered,
And earth is no more;
I'll still cling to that old rugged cross.

I believe that this life with its great mystery,
Surely someday, yes someday, will come to an end;
But faith will conquer the darkness and death,
And will lead me, yes lead me at last to my friends.

I believe in a hill called Mount Calvary,
I'll believe whatever the cost;
And when time has surrendered,
And earth is no more;
I'll still cling to that old rugged cross.

And when time has surrendered,
And earth is no more;
I'll still cling to that old rugged cross.

I want you to see part of what compassion is. Compassion is regarded as a part
of love itself and it means to "suffer together with"

In Hebrews4:12, we are told "For we have not an high priest which cannot be
touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like
as we are, yet without sin"

What this actually means in terms that we can understand is that Jesus Christ
is that high priest and we are told that Jesus suffered and was given the same
temptations as we all have had to endure but we are also told that Jesus did
not sin.

I have been asked many times...."where was Jesus when....." My answer is
that Jesus was right there with us.....suffering with us but since HE gave free
will to everyone, HE could not stop it but if you are reading this now, HE DID
enable you to survive it and if you are still a "victim" of this abuse, HE
wants you to move from being a victim to being a survivor....to being an
over comer and HE has done everything possible for you to do it but just as your
abuser had the power of free choice and they chose to do evil, YOU now have
the power to move to being a survivor of the abuse, you have the power right
now....in the next few moments of moving from being an nobody....to being a
CHILD OF THE KING!

Yes many of those here in Edgewater have compassion....but none of them can take
your place. Jesus did take your place. He died to pay for the sin that YOU
did. He wants so much for you to accept the gift of eternal life, to have your
sin be forgotten by GOD but you have to accept this gift.

To do this.....check out

You will never find anyone that has more compassion for you then.....JESUS!
